posing posing...

a very elaborate alter piece at St. Karl's Cathedral

in the evening we attended a concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus featuring Mozart and Strauss ... this year is Mozart's 250th anniversary btw...while collecting our tickets, we found out from a chinese compatriot that the main act of Vienna, the orchestra which plays at the Vienna State Opera was actually at Salzburg for their annual 2 month stint there in summer! Well at least we could hear the second best...

23rd morning

walking the streets on a sunday morning means that no shops are open, but there were still countless tourists hanging around...at least the museums were open...

inside the cathedral at the city center...Rai...giving Xiaoling a piece of his mind...haha...no la...

such expressive sculpture...

treated to free tenor performance at the palace compound...next to the entrance to the Sisi museum...

interior of the Vienna State Opera as seen from the emperor's box...renting the emperor's tea room just behind this box costs 500 euros for half an hour during intervals...and a dress circle box you see in the above picture costs 16,000 euros each on the night of the annual Vienna Opera Ball...you better be reaaaallly rich to attend...but then again it depends on how many you can squeeze into the box....technically if you could squeeze 16,000 people into each box, then it would only cost 1 euro each....cheap!....woohoo!...
