Eurotrip 1 Day 1 . Hamburg

Meiyi and I woke up early today to catch the train to Hamburg, but not before I bought my InterRail ticket from the Amsterdam train station just 10min before the departure of the ICE at around noon. Boy was it tense. On the way to the border of the Netherlands and Germany, we were told that we had to pay for the trip within NL as the InterRail and her EURail pass did not cover this part of the trip?! Ya come to think of it, Adu did mention this before, but it does sound ludicrous. Anyway, we promptly paid for it and proceeded on. We arrived late at the Hamburg Hbf as we had gotten off at the wrong station, Hamburg Harburg(I had thought Harburg was Hamburg pronounced in another way!). I had thought, naively, that there was only one main station in Hamburg. Anyway, we were an hour late and when we reached the Hbf, we actually walked right past Uncle Percy without recognizing him! It can't be helped cause it had been a long time since Meiyi last saw him. He was waiting for us together with his daughter(Jessica) and her friend. We then proceeded to his house via the S-Bahn and a bus.

We were greeted at his home by his German wife Sylvia, their dog Spikey & their cat Snowy. Uncle Percy had prepared chicken porridge and bratworst for us. Yum.
